Purpose Ambassador Invitation

As one of our Talk on Purpose graduates/ supporters, the team at Slow School are pleased to invite you to become a Purpose Ambassador.

The Purpose Ambassador program is a special opportunity for you to share your story, work towards your purpose and help others find theirs. It’s a valuable learning experience to share the stage with other graduates and be a part of a growing community of Purpose-driven Ambassadors.

Since launching Talk on Purpose in November 2014 we’ve had over 70 amazing individuals unearth their unique and personal stories. Our aim by December 2017 is to make that 200 people.

To reach our goals, we’ll be hosting  Talk on Purpose Pop Ups ( a free one-hour mini storytelling workshop) in companies, schools and universities.  We’re asking you, as an ambassador, to invite your networks/contacts to host a ToP Pop Up at their place of work, giving you the opportunity to deliver your talk again with other graduates and a ToP facilitator. The aim is to inspire individuals in organisations to connect to their purpose through storytelling and public speaking.

A Purpose Ambassadorship offers you the opportunity to:

  • Polish up your talk to reaffirm your own passion and purpose
  • Provide something unique and valuable to your clients and networks
  • Receive a Prosperity Payment for future courses
  • Be considered to become an Accredited ToP Facilitator
  • Host a Talk on Purpose course/s with your clients
  • Attend an ambassador drinks night on Thursday 13 October. Register here

If each ambassador was to secure one ToP Pop-up that would be an amazing achievement! It would also be a great way for you to keep sharing your own talk while promoting this incredibly valuable course to bring more purpose to the world of work.

We look forward to having you on board as our Purpose Ambassador! For more information or questions contact Carolyn@slowschool.com.au or phone 0412 806 950.

Slow Dinner | The Purpose-driven Business with Carolyn Tate | October 27

About Slow Dinners

The Slow School of Business (Slow School) is a people-powered learning community dedicated to building purpose-driven and prosperous businesses that make the world a better place. We come together each month over a meal and a glass of wine to learn something new and make deep connections. At Slow School everyone pitches in, that’s why we ask you to bring your ideas, your passion and a plate and/or a bottle of something special to share.

About our topic – The Purpose-driven Business

According to Gallup, 70% of people across the globe are disengaged at work. It would seem that we’re all making a ‘dying’ instead of a ‘living’ at work. How do we turn this tragic statistic around? The answer lies in reorienting people and organisations towards a higher purpose than profit.

At this dinner, you’ll get to play with a couple of purpose tools that Carolyn has developed to help you craft your own company purpose statement and bring it to life.

BOOK HERE

What you will learn:

  • What purpose actually is and why it’s imperative to drive profitability and prosperity.
  • How to write your own purpose statement and use it to drive vision, mission and values.
  • How you can use Manifestos’s to bring your purpose to life.

About our Workshop Leader

“I believe that purpose will become as essential to a company as breathing is to us humans. The successful leaders will be the ones to awaken purpose in themselves, their company and their people.”

She is the author of four books (the latest one being Conscious Marketing), the founder of The Slow School of Business and a founding member of Conscious Capitalism.  Her company is also a Certified B Corporation.

Her purpose is to unearth a higher purpose in people and organisations. She’s been passionately pursuing her own purpose and studying purpose-driven companies for more than five years. She has a wealth of experience, knowledge and groundbreaking tools to share with you.

Slow Dinner | Playing with your emotions with Angela Dadds | September 22

About Slow Dinners

The Slow School of Business (Slow School) is a people-powered learning community dedicated to building purpose-driven and prosperous businesses that make the world a better place. We come together each month over a meal and a glass of wine to learn something new and make deep connections. At Slow School everyone pitches in, that’s why we ask you to bring your ideas, your passion and a plate and/or a bottle of something special to share.

About our topic – Playing with your Emotions

Did you know that you can classify all human emotions into just six categories? (and why would you want to do that?!)

Using simple models to understand complex things often unlocks awareness and clarity that was previously not accessible. From there, we can understand where to focus our attention and begin to practice new ‘micro behaviours’… small, sustainable alterations to our everyday responses that accumulate over time into big changes in the way that we interact with the world.

In this session, we have a bit of fun with the topic and will play a game to understand the key concepts quickly and easily.

What you will learn

  • How our ‘way of being’ is constructed
  • What the six basic human emotions are
  • How to create shifts in your emotional state (and your results in life!)

About our Workshop Leader

Helping people acquire and develop the skills to articulate their perspective without creating defensiveness is the foundation of her work. She would love everyone to experience the magic of saying what you really mean, really meaning what you say, and being fully heard.

Workshop | The Purpose Project with Carolyn Tate | December 2

“Purpose is as essential to a company as breathing is to us humans. The successful leaders of tomorrow will be the ones to awaken purpose in themselves, their company and their people.”

According to Gallup, 70% of people across the globe are disengaged at work. It would seem that we’re all making a ‘dying’ instead of a ‘living’ at work. We no longer want to be a cog in the wheel of industry or a dispensable commodity. We no longer want to be subjected to culture programs or L&D initiatives that don’t address the real, underlying, deep-rooted issues.

We all want a reason for turning up at work that goes way deeper than the pursuit of profit and increased productivity. We want to work for a company that has a higher purpose and that invites us to bring our own purpose to work.

Purpose is both the glue of an organisation and the guiding north-star – ever present yet never reachable. Purpose answers the most fundamental core truths; Why are we here? What is the contribution we are making? How is the world better because we exist?

A worthy purpose can be felt, seen and heard by everyone, from your employees to your customers and even the competition. This is not about sacrificing profit in the name of purpose but about ‘profiting on purpose’ by bringing your company back to its humanness.

Companies that have been built on purpose and that are highly profitable as a result include Patagonia, Etsy, TOMs, KeepCup, Interface Carpets, Whole Food Markets and Intrepid Travel.

In companies across the globe, now more than ever, we need purpose-driven, conscious leaders to step up, take the initiative and own ‘purpose’ instead of waiting for executives to mandate it.

If you’re ready to apply the principles of purpose in your company then this workshop is the place to begin.

BOOK HERE

What’s covered?

The one-day workshop is a glorious mix of education and exploration. We work with human-centred design tools and principles and explore stories and case-studies of purpose-driven companies. You will learn:

  1. The Power of Purpose: We define purpose and how it’s used and explore the history and future of purpose and understand how it drives vision, mission, values, culture and profitability.
  2. The Purpose Statement: We discover what makes a powerful purpose statement and use a framework to show you how to co-create your own company purpose statement.
  3. The Manifesto: We discover the power of Manifesto’s and how they can be used to create behavioural change to bring purpose to life.
  4. The Purpose Project: We work on identifying a Purpose Project to adopt to help you take action in your daily life and work to bring about change.

Carolyn will also share the ups and downs of building our purpose-driven start-up business, The Slow School of Business (now just two years old). She’ll lift the lid on what’s worked and what hasn’t and share another very special tool we’ve used to keep us focused, The Business Plan Tree.

The Workshop Methodology

“All learning has an emotional base” said Plato. That’s why I adopt a ‘learn by doing’, facilitated approach that brings into balance the head, the heart and the gut. We start the day with a Commitment Declaration to ensure you are ready, willing and able to give your best. During the day we use a variety of learning activities including personal reflection, journaling, deep listening, pair discussions, story telling and group tasks.

Everyone is equal and there is no hierarchy. You are asked to enter the space bearing no job title. We are all teachers and we are all students and we learn best in collaboration. The workshop is hosted in an eco-friendly location surrounded by nature in order to bring you back to your natural state of being. It’s in this environment that the most profound conversations occur, the most powerful insights arise and the best choices are made.

Slow Dinner | Humanise your Business with Beth Jennings | August 18

About Slow Dinners

The Slow School of Business (Slow School) is a people-powered learning community dedicated to building purpose-driven and prosperous businesses that make the world a better place. We come together each month over a meal and a glass of wine to learn something new and make deep connections. At Slow School everyone pitches in, that’s why we ask you to bring your ideas, your passion and a plate and/or a bottle of something special to share.

About our topic – Humanise your Business

At the core of business lies the deceptively simple truth that ‘people buy from people’.  The human attention span is now just 8 seconds, so the pressure is on to make an impact. People want to know, ‘why should I buy from you?’, and it’s our responsibility to give them a good reason.

People buy on emotion, it’s not rational, so we must reach in and touch their spirit.  Is it possible to do that in just 8 seconds? It’s a cliché yet it’s a clue, ‘a picture is worth a 1000 words’. The solution is simple. It starts with you.

BOOK HERE

What you will learn
– The four key pillars that provide the bedrock for humanising your business
– How to describe you and your business in ways that inspire your market
– Experience first-hand how connection works in a simple experiment
– How to translate your uniqueness from words into captivating photographs.

About our Workshop Leader

“I believe your life runs like a movie in real time, and photography gives you the power to hit ‘pause’ on the best bits.”

Beth Jennings is a pioneer in the landscape of humanising business through photography.Surface stuff doesn’t interest her, but humans fascinate her in their capacity to create, strive and succeed. It makes for a great story. So your story comes first. Beth describes herself as a real-life photographer with the sole intention to show who you really are, not just what you look like. Her mission is to capture what really matters and her vision is to record your legacy for future generations.
